Piano for Singers: Workshop Complete!
This week we had our first Summer Music Workshop, ‘Piano for Singers’ for students ages 11-13, and what a wonderful 3 days it was. It was a joy to work with these talented hard-working students!
What we worked on:
We learned how to play chords on the piano for pop and Disney tunes.
We learned how to read and play lead sheets, which are lyric sheets that have chords on them. Being able to read lead sheets means that students can look up any of the songs they enjoy on the computer and play them and sing along!
We played music games with buzzers and fly swatters(this was almost too exciting haha).
We explored different ways of writing lyrics, including a fun activity with blackout poetry.
We wrote original songs and created official lead sheetsfor them.
We warmed up and sang together as a group.
Some pretty impressive bedazzling of the music folders happened during our snack breaks!
I'm so impressed with their original songs that they polished up in only 3 days!
Join us for the next one!
